Been very busy doing things around the house. Lance (Tavane's brother) has been building a new bedroom/bathroom in the basement, and Jen will move down there. All the carpentry, electrical and plumbing are done, so it is now to finishing and painting. I also resurfaced the deck (by the looks of it, it hadn't been done in years).
We had a TREMENDOUS rainstorm Thursday night. I think we got 3" of rain. It washed a lot of rocks down our hill. We also found that we have a new leak in our bedroom, 'cause our ceiling is now stained and buckling.... a new project!

Ghostbusters, my thoughts

I finished the campaign mode of Ghostbusters today and have a couple things to say about it. First off, it is fantastic to be a ghostbuster. Although I was born after the movie's release in 1984, I still love the humor of the movie. Many movies that claim to be comedies today are simple people getting hit by large objects and crappy one-liners. Anyway, Ghostbusters: The Video Game was not only written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, the writers of the movie and two of the four ghostbusters. Secondly, the got all, that's right, ALL of the original Ghostbuster actors to come back and voice their role. Bill Murray's performance, however, seemed phoned-in. You could tell that Dan Aykroyd was the most involved, as he had the most lines. I think this is one of the only Ghostbusters games in which Winston, played by Ernie Hudson, is included. You also get to explore all the locations from the movies: the Sedgewick Hotel, the library, and the museum, along with other locations. Between missions you will be able to explore the Firehouse, which is very true to the movie set. You can even slide down the pole!

As the IGN review said, it feels like a love letter to all of the fans of the series. It does have it's problems. Firstly, the campaign mode took me only about nine hours to finish. I haven't tried online mode yet, but I've read where the game makes up for the short story. In some cut scenes, the voice is out of sync which the animation, which should be able to be cleared up with a patch, but it hasn't been fixed yet. There are also some parts where the difficulty goes way up and I found myself running around trying to review the other Ghostbusters, who needed a medic every two seconds instead of attacking the ghost.

As a whole, I'm glade that Atari decided to pick up Ghostbusters when Activision Blizzard dropped it. I was very upset when the press release said that Ghostbusters would not be released, especially when it was almost finished. If your a fan of the series, I'd give it a rental.

I got to cut tile today!! Very exciting and a little scary. Jen's room is coming along nicely.

Sleeping in is exciting!

So today I got to sleep in until *gasp* 6:30! I woke up and felt super well rested, which was nice for a change. I even got to shower in the morning. This week instead of being in at 5 or 6, I'll be in at 6:30, except that means that I'll get out at 2:30, which is a bummer. McDonald's isn't that bad. So far everyone that works there seems nice, even the one that seems standoffish at first. I soon discovered that it was sarcasm similar to one of my friend's from Norwich. It does get busy, and I come home with headaches a lot.

Laura and I have been playing LEGO Indiana Jones. "I want to play Indiana Jones," passed her lips today, which was earth-shattering. Here's a trailer for those who don't know what it is.



I really like LEGO Star Wars, and LEGO Indy came free with my 360, and since Assassin's Creed is getting repetitive, I stuck this in. The LEGO series is a series that doesn't take itself seriously. It knows that its source material is great, and puts its own spin on it. The humor is good and clean. So if any of you have a PS2, Wii, 360, or PS3, it'd be a good buy.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game comes out on Tuesday! Expect a review of that.

Anybody out there?

Okay everyone - if this blog is going to work, we all need to post something once in a while. The purpose of this blog is to post small things (or big events) that we don't always get to tell everyone.
Steve was trying to stain the deck but we just got hit with some rainstorms. Guess his plans are changed for now.
Laura and I have been working on her bed. It is finally finished and she is very excited to finally have a headboard.
Jen has just been working her little tail off. What was originally suppose to be a Friday/Saturday gig has turned into 40 hours a week. It is taking some adjustments since she is first shift. She really dislikes the 10 pm fireworks from Kings Island when she needs to get up early.

Not much new

Not much new going on here. Jen forgot to write about her bonking her head on the shower faucet while she was helping Lance. She was fine but a little tender.
Laura is waiting to hear from Sam's Club about a job. It would be nice if she would get it.
Steve and I went to a choir picnic yesterday. The choir director has decided that he needed to leave this position. The search is on for someone new. Darn, and I had just broken him in. It's nice to be in choir again. There are plenty of people from before and many new. It is a great group.

Soooooooo, I kind of set my alarm for 3:30PM instead of 3:30AM. This resulted in me frantically calling McDonalds at 6:30AM and apologizing, profusely, then coming in late. However, since Jim (manager) and I had verbally agreed to have me come in at 4:30 instead of 6 and he had never changed it on the schedule, it looked like I was only 50min late when I arrived at 6:50. I ended up staying until 1, even though schedule said 2. There were too many people and it was too busy for a new person to be working the fries, so I peaced out of there.

As far as McDonalds goes, it's not a bad job, but it's not fantastic either. Since I worked at Burger King when I was in high school, I'm a little used to the way a fast food restaurant is run. The difference is that at Burger King I worked in the back on food and cleaning and night prep. Now I'm working early morning prep and drive thru. I guess I'll get all of my bases covered.

I saw a puggle while working the drive-thru window. They were surprised that I knew what it was, my response being that my uncle has a puggle.

I really need to stop writing posts on little sleep.

Excellence

So, this is my first time ever blogging. Woo Hoo! I never even kept a real journal, so forgive me. Today was a great day. Two of my closest friends from college, Kristen and Maribeth, came over and we went to see Night at the Museum Two. It was good, but not as good as the first. I believe I saw the first Night at the Museum with Dad (Stephen), Grace and Kevin one year when we were at Noni and Pop's.
The girls and I also went to Skyline and Graters. Oh yes, and earlier while swinging on the swing on the side of the house, somehow Maribeth and I broke the chain. All of a sudden we were on the ground and had no idea how we got there. It was hilarious. I'll try to remember to upload some pictures another time.

E3 is rocking my socks this year, now that I have a 360

I don't know what I'm the most excited about. Assassin's Creed was good, but The Beatles Rock Band is probably going to be amazing. We'll have to see about Kingdom Hearts, since it's going to be very different from Chain of Memories. At least Axel is going to be in it, and not dead. I just hope that the reason there's four months between the release date in Japan and the release date in America is that their fixing the animation of the mouths to match the English, like they did in the PS2 games.

First Try

Well Jen you've made a Cammarn blog. Now lets see if "der's" can use it. After fooling around I found a Tab that said "new post", I think. I hope we can find it again. It was great to see most of the family last week. It's been awhile.
Dan, Noni, & I are considering going to see Dave for a few days in July. We look forward to being able to see him face to face after all he (and we) have been thru.
The only thing that's new is that we lost a close friend just the other day. I don't think any of you know him - Jim Manthey. He was a very big man with a Santa Claus beard. He was a member of Our Savior when you were growing up, They have two kids - Dave and Kim if you remember the names.

Well, I hope this works. Jen didn't really explain why we are doing this.
We used to do a round robin letter but sometimes it would get "lost" in the day to day life. This blog is to right down that day to day stuff. Doesn't have to be long, just let others know what's going on in your life. We sometimes miss the little things that are also important to all of us.
Not too much new here. Lance (my brother) is working on a room for Jen in the basement. The proportions of the room sizes here are either really big or really small. Jen was nice enough to give Laura the larger room so now she gets a new room. (I think she might have know this would happen.) It has been good to have him here. He stays here during the week then goes home on the weekends. The room is coming along nicely.
My gardens are coming along. It's very hard to start from scratch when I had such nice gardens in Norwich. It's also hard to be patient when everything looks so bare.
That's about it for now.

Work is lameface

Working 40 hours a week was not what I had in mind when I signed up for Fridays and Saturdays.

Oh, and thank you, Thunder. Thank you for waking me up. It was so nice of you to shake me from sleep at 11PM when I was scheduled for work at 6AM the next morning.

And people from Cincinnati need to learn the meaning of the word "please." It does not, in any sense, mean "I didn't hear that, could you repeat yourself?"

As homework for the summer, I'm going to translate Utada Hikaru's songs that have yet to be translated. I might run into some roadblocks with grammar I haven't learned, but it's worth a shot.
